The A Bathing Ape Shark STA Country Pack Releases Tomorrow

Even though BAPE had to change some of its footwear designs and discontinue other models, thanks to a settlement in a lawsuit with Nike, the Japanese streetwear legend is launching a new sneaker design. Playing into the current trend of mesh runners and Y2K/2010s techy designs, BAPE is launching the Shark STA silhouette. BAPE has crafted a collection of matching hoodies across ten country-themed colorways of the Shark STA to help ring in this new model and the 20th Anniversary of the brand’s Shark Full-Zip Hoodies.

Spanning the globe, BAPE covers the Shark STA in color palettes representing the United States, United Kingdom, France, Italy, China, Japan, Korea, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, and Malaysia. Each shoe has the same suede, mesh, and patent leather construction, with a mesh base and suede/patent leather overlays. These multi-layered overlays come in accenting shades that play into the color palette of the country each shoe represents. Wavy suede panels run from the mudguard back to the heel and a patent leather strip runs along the edge of the midfoot.

A shark teeth-inspired overlay is featured along the upper profile, taking inspiration from the shark teeth on the full-zip hoodies. As for branding, A Bathing Ape places its name on a tag near the collar and adds BAPE STA logos to the tongue and heel tab. Underfoot sits a white foam midsole with a contrasting BAPE star logo integrated into the TPU arch support and a tonal rubber outsole.

The A Bathing Ape Shark STA Country Pack will launch tomorrow, October 5, 2024, through BAPE online and in-store. As of this writing, the retail price has yet to be announced.
