One of the most popular collaborators with New Balance is rapper, chef, and media personality Action Bronson, who has enjoyed working on multiple releases with the Boston-based brand. Kicking off the relationship was a two-pack of 990v6 Made in USA colorways, with the duo following up this with the 1906R in Meduza Azul, Scorpius, and Rosewater. While Bronson has already teased us with his FuelCell Rebel v4 and Minimus Trail collabs, he’s just been spotted wearing an all-new Baklava 990v6.
Bronson’s latest take on the 990v6 sees a vibrant multi-color arrangement grounded by white and vintage yellow hues. These white hues land on the mesh base and the panels on the mudguard and heel, while we see perforated nubuck in a red shade land on the toebox overlays and portions of the midfoot. Shades of vino appear on the suede eyestays, which host a two-tone white and blue lace set, while pops of pink land on the vamp and TPU sections of the lacing setup. Branding is reworked on the tongue tag as a Baklava logo replaces the standard 990v6 logo. However, we still see the iconic N logo land on the midfoot in a classic silver/grey arrangement. Underfoot sits a pre-aged vintage foam midsole cushioned with FuelCell technology and a tonal rubber outsole.
