The illustrious New Balance 99X series has evolved since its first iteration in 1982. Today, the mainline 990 Made in USA variant is on to its 6th version, the 990v6, which has become a staple in the release calendar for Teddy Santis and the entirety of the Made in USA line. Before the revival of the 992 in GR colorways, images of a new Avocado Natural Mint colorway on the 990v6 appeared.
Historically, the 99X series has been one that sticks to neutral, earthy hues and grounded color palettes. However, the brand has expanded its color palette recently, likely thanks to Aime Leon Dore founder Teddy Santis, who runs the Made in USA division. This is quite apparent in this green-based color scheme, as a mixture of deep avocado green and light minty green comes together across the suede, perforated nubuck, and mesh upper.

A bright green hue lands on the mudguard and eyelet, while the midfoot and heel overlay suede panel is slightly lighter. Even lighter than this is the perforated nubuck that lines the edge of the toe and cuts across the midfoot, passing by the cream and dark grey N logo. Below this sits a wide-spaced cell mesh in a darker avocado-green hue, contrasting the white hits of the lace set, the top of the tongue, and the sockliner. Finishing the sneaker is the cream and white foam midsole featuring FuelCell foam and a black rubber outsole.
The New Balance 990v6 Made in USA Avocado Natural Mint will release in 2025 through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is $200.
