2022 was an incredible year for sneakers as we saw the return of classic colorways, the introduction of new silhouettes, and trends shifting from what we’ve become used to over the last few years. Popularized by the Yeezy Slide and Foam RNNR silhouettes, foam slip-on’s became the hot ticket item for every footwear label in the industry and plenty of copycats emerged out of the woodwork - even from adidas themselves. Now continuing to add to their array of slip-on models, adidas is bringing a similar construction seen on the adidas adiFOM Q to the iconic adidas Superstar.
Seen here in its two launch colorways (Black and White), the silhouette forgoes any laces and instead comes constructed out of foam from top to bottom, featuring a similar finish to the aforementioned adiFOM Q with its ridges visible upon closer inspection. Like many recent adidas sneakers, the environmental impact of the silhouette is at the forefront of the design as The Three Stripes utilizes a foam material partially made from sugarcane with the entire model having a minimum of 50% natural and renewable materials. Features you’d typically find on a standard Superstar remain with the Three Stripes design painted along the midfoot in a contrasting shade depending on the colorway and the heel tab hosting a Trefoil logo. While not actually having the classic “shell-toe” the model is known for, this adiFOM version extends that design across the entire forefoot with the sneaker’s design completed by a rubber outsole matching the upper.
The adidas adiFOM Superstar was released overseas on December 26th, 2022 with a wider drop through adidas and select retailers slated for 2023. Releasing in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $80 USD.
