The school hosted its inaugural basketball game, with Rose and other Simeon alumni taking on the current varsity team. Former Chicago Bulls teammates joined the event, which raised funds for local charities. It was a touching homecoming for Rose, reconnecting with the school where his legendary basketball journey began.
On Saturday, adidas unveiled a floral art installation at Clybourn Park, paying homage to Derrick’s enduring connection to Chicago. Fans visiting the installation received commemorative adidas x Derrick Rose merchandise, creating another memorable moment to cap off the weekend.
The celebration concluded at the United Center during halftime of the Chicago Bulls’ game against the New York Knicks. The ceremony honored Derrick’s contributions to Chicago and the basketball world, cementing his legacy as one of the city’s most cherished athletes.
