Earlier in the month, adidas introduced a new version of Kobe Bryant’s first signature sneaker with The Three Stripes, the adidas Crazy 8, cut down into a low-top. Since this debut with Hoop York City, the silhouette has also been crafted in an F&F colorway for BSTN and Bayern Munich Basketball. adidas plans to honor more basketball teams with an inline collection that pays tribute to five HBCUs from across America on the Crazy 8 Low.
The five HBCUs, Alabama State, Alcorn State, Grambling State, Prairie View A&M, and Arkansas Pine Bluff, get their school colors translated onto the Crazy 8 Low. Each pair features a smooth leather and mesh upper, accented by patent leather Three Stripes on the midfoot. This patent leather extends down onto portions of the sole unit and is on the heel, while a mesh base is below. Logos for each HBCU are found on the tongue tag, while adidas branding marks the toecap, vamp, and insole. Down below sits a tonal midsole matching the color palette for the school represented, featuring EVA cushioning paired with a tonal rubber outsole.
The adidas Crazy 8 Low HBCU Pack will release on October 1, 2024, through adidas online and in-store. Available in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at $120 for each of the five pairs.
