adidas has consistently stood as a dynamic and leading player in basketball footwear, engineering performance-driven models that offer both form and function. For Donovan Mitchell, the fifth installment of his D.O.N. (Determination Over Negativity) Issue series is soon set to debut and was recently unveiled during an event in China. This follows up on recent adidas Basketball reveals, including the futuristic Crazy IIInfinity and new signature sneakers for rising NBA stars Anthony Edwards and Trae Young.
The adidas D.O.N. Issue #5 carries forward the line’s legacy of performance-focused design. Its upper is crafted from a blend of mesh, suede, and synthetic materials, combining to provide players with a comfortable and secure fit. A notable feature of the sneaker is the sizeable oval cutout positioned in the center of the lateral side, which adds a distinct design flair. For enhanced comfort during intense play, the toe area is marked with perforations to encourage optimal breathability. On the medial side of the shoe, branding is visible with adidas' logo alongside Donovan Mitchell’s signature mark. The iconic Three Stripes emblem extends upward from the outsole and functions as a design statement and a structural feature to reinforce the midfoot. The shoe is completed with a rubber outsole designed for grip and stability, a critical consideration for quick cuts and explosive movements. While adidas haven’t revealed full tech specs, we will likely see some of the brand’s latest cushioning and innovations in Mitchell’s newest model.
The adidas D.O.N. Issue #5 will release in 2023 through adidas and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at TBA.
