Arriving in time for the spookiest holiday of the year, the adidas DON Issue 6 Halloween represents the sneaker's namesake. Previous Donovan Mitchell shoes have received Halloween and Day Of The Dead iterations since he signed with the brand in 2017. Seven years together, the partnership between Mitchell and The Brand With The Three Stripes has been fruitful, with the range being one of the flagship offerings of adidas Basketball.
A key element of this collaborative effort is the emphasis on storytelling and community impact. Mitchell's signature sneakers reflect personal milestones in his life and career, from overcoming challenges to his journey to NBA stardom. The collaboration extends beyond just footwear. Mitchell and adidas have worked on initiatives to inspire the next generation, including youth basketball camps and programs to provide resources to various communities. This focus on empowering young athletes has solidified the partnership as more than just a business deal but a platform for positive change.
With the adidas DON Issue 6's Halloween design, the story is apparent immediately, with the striking core black and pink knit upper highlighted with a mesh overlay adorned with a white spider web. Nicknamed Spida since college by his teammates due to the range of his arms, the vibrant colorblocking is also implemented with the usual flair associated with the Cleveland Cavaliers Guards sneakers. Purple and white hues run along the upper edge, with pink TPU hits at the toe and the propulsion plate at the midfoot. The white midsole encases Lightstrike and Lightstrike Pro technology, with a black rubber outsole for increased traction and grip.
The adidas DON Issue 6 Halloween is set to release in October 2024, at adidas and select retailers in-store and online. Coming in men's sizing, retail is set at $120. Craig Bell happily talks about sneakers or as he calls them "trainers" every day of the year. An avid Bradford City fan, he's also a big supporter of the Philadelphia Eagles. He will forever profess that Cricket is better than Baseball and that Rugby League is better then Rugby Union. Among his many hot takes, he believes the adidas ZX range is the pinnacle of sneaker design.
