Celebrating his Panamanian heritage, NBA superstar Donovan Mitchell reveals the next iteration of his latest signature sneaker, the adidas DON Issue 6 Panama. The model first debuted during the 2024 NBA All-Star festivities in February. Mitchell unveiled this upcoming colorway on his adidas Panama tour in August. Vibrant color schemes are becoming a staple of his design ethos, as seen with the Halloween and Haribo pairs. This practice further highlights the DON (Determination Over Negativity) philosophy on which the range is built.
Spida, as he's known, spent most of his childhood around baseball locker rooms as his father, Donovan Mitchell Sr is a former minor league player and now a director with the New York Mets. It is Mitchell's mother, Nicole, who has a Panamanian lineage. As Spida says, his mother is the best person he knows, and it is no surprise that he takes pride in his heritage and pays homage to the small Central American nation.
Reflective 3M detailing is added to the toe area and lacing system of the DON Issue 6 Panama, featuring a knitted upper adorned in lucid lime and solar red hues. The Spida logo is at the top of the tongue pull loop, with the tongue itself daubed in multiple shades of color. EQT branding is present on the vamp and the rear midsole heel. The back heel pull tab denotes DON branding while assisting with slipping the sneaker on and off for ease of access. At the midfoot, a carbon fiber support plate is durable and finished off with Three Stripes underneath, while the rest of the midsole features Lightstrike Pro technology, which provides stability and comfort. Underfoot is a rubber outsole for extra traction and grip.
The adidas DON Issue 6 Panama is set to release on November 22, 2024, at adidas and select retailers in-store and online. In men's, gradeschool, and preschool sizing, retail is set at $120, $90, and $75, respectively.
