Gilbert Arenas is known for his controversial statements on social media in regards to basketball analysis, yet adidas is bringing back the Gil Zero model from the vault for the first time since its 2007 debut. A fan favorite for low-top basketball sneakers, the adidas Gil Zero is being updated with modern materials while maintaining the original design from 2007. Similar to how Nike Kobe retro sneakers recently released in Protro form, we will be seeing a slew of retros (including the Hibachi edition) and new colorways on the model for 2022.
Appearing in white and black, the flair is added with faux animal print on the top of the tongue, a mismatched pattern of pink and white on the upper, and a wild pattern on the mudguard and heel counter. A hypnotic black and white pattern is also present on the midsole. All of this was designed in collaboration with streetwear brand UNDRCRWN, which took inspiration from 90’s fashion for the wild aesthetics. Your chances at securing a pair this time around will be much higher considering the original release from 2007 was limited to just 750 pairs.
The adidas Gil Zero Restomod UNDRCRWN is set to release on January 14th, 2022. It will drop at adidas and Foot Lockers family of companies as well as select retailers both in-store and online. They will be available in men’s sizing with a retail price set at $140. Keep it locked to our Twitter and Mobile App to stay up to date on this release as it gets closer.
