adidas is well known for their consistent collaborations with the Far East, their Y-3 collections being a prime example as well as partnering with Tokyo’s Bloody Angle on a vinyl-inspired Superstar. Moving away from Japan and expanding their Adilicious collection, The Three Stripes is taking their talents to Korea to work with Seoul’s oldest bakery on the upcoming adidas Superstar Taegukdang.
Keeping things simple, the all-leather upper is dressed in a white and black color scheme, though the details throughout make this more than a standard two-tone Superstar. Starting at the toe, the famous Shell Toe gets a cream makeover, complimenting the white-on-white lace, eyestay, and tongue combo. A white sockliner and tongue lining keep things semi-monochromatic with the latter featuring the bakeries flower logo in black. Along the lateral side, the usual Three Stripe branding is hidden beneath a pull-away covering, though the medial side stays true to the original design with a black set of stripes visible. Back on the black leather heel tab, a white adidas Trefoil as well as “과자중의 과자,” which translates to “cookies among cookies,” is present. Underfoot and completing the look is a cream midsole paired with a semi-translucent rubber outsole featuring a cartoon drawing inspired by the storefront.
The adidas Superstar Taegukdang is set to release on June 29th, 2022 through adidas and select Three Stripes retailers online and in-store. Coming in men's sizing, the retail price is set at $120.
