Looking at the Air Jordan 1 family, the obvious “black sheep” is the AJ 1 Mid. While the High and Low date back to 1985, Jordan Brand gave the world this mid-cut version of the iconic model in the early 2000s. Because of this, many knock the model for not being an “OG.” This has not deterred the general public from copping, especially with the abundance of colorways releasing on a monthly basis. For the latest entry in the AJ 1 Mid series, JB is giving the kids an exclusive “Purple Venom” edition.
Taking on its usual all-leather construction, we see a two-tone white and purple color palette dress the silhouette. Stark white leather panels land on the toebox, quarter panel, and collar, while purple venom takes over the mudguard, eyestays, and heel overlays. Portions of the nylon tongue match these purple shades, while the lace set and top of the tongue come in white. For branding, the Jumpman logo and Swoosh continue the accenting hit of purple with the Jordan Wings logo on the collar stamped in white. A purple sockliner and insole round out the top parts of the silhouette, while the white midsole and purple rubber outsole finish the design.
The Air Jordan 1 Mid Purple Venom GS is set to release Holiday 2023 through Nike and select Jordan Brand retailers online and in-store. Coming in grade school, pre-school, and toddler sizing, the retail price is set at $110, $75, and $60, respectively.
