Jordan Brand's knack for weaving Michael Jordan's illustrious legacy into its sneaker designs is unmatched, especially when it taps into nostalgic elements from MJ's off-court moments and contributions to pop culture. This May, Jordan Brand takes a playful dive into the past by releasing the latest kids’ exclusive Air Jordan 1 Mid SE, a sneaker that pays homage to the 1990 film Michael Jordan's Playground, a VHS film where Jordan imparts basketball wisdom to a young fan.
Dressed in a color scheme reminiscent of the playground featured in the film, the Air Jordan 1 Mid SE MJ's Playground boasts a leather and washed suede upper that captures the imagination. Red hues dance along the mudguard and eyestays, while green swathes the collar overlay, Swoosh, and heel. Contrasting black elements on the leather toe box, midfoot, and collar offer a grounded look against the playful backdrop.
The tongue is adorned with a red Jumpman, and multi-colored AIR text, mirroring the Wings logo on the collar. A special leather tab etched with Michael Jordan's Playground on the heel adds a bespoke touch to this commemorative pair. Rounding out the design is the white midsole and black rubber outsole.
The Air Jordan 1 Mid SE MJ's Playground GS will release in May 2024 through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in grade school, preschool, and toddler sizing, prices are set at $120, $80, and $65, respectively.
