All Jordan fans will remember Michael Jordan's 1988 NBA Slam Dunk Contest, when he leapt from the free-throw line and defied the laws of physics. To pay tribute to this truly monumental moment, Jordan Brand has unleashed the Air Jordan 1 Mid SS "Dunk Contest" which is directly inspired by this legendary event. Working on top of the iconic "Chicago" colorway, it has been reworked with ornate details throughout, so make sure you read on to find out everything that you need to know.
Crafted from a full leather construction, this Air Jordan 1 is painted in contrasting muslin and chile red hues for a look that's sure to turn heads. An intricate floral pattern decorates the upper in a subtle white tint, while a black Swoosh logo shoots through the lateral and medial sidewalls for that classic AJ 1 aesthetic that we all know and love. Jumpman and winged basketballs feature on the tongue and collar, respectively, while "3:51" adorns the heel, representing the exact time on the background clock of the iconic slam dunk photo. All of this comes in a special edition shoebox which encourages wearers to color it in, nodding to the demographic that this exclusive Jordan is aimed at.
Releasing exclusively in kids sizes, the Air Jordan 1 Mid SS Dunk Contest GS is set to release on February 20th, 2023. Dropping at Nike, the SNKRS app, and select Jordan Brand retailers both online and in-store, retail will be $120, $80, and $65 for gradeschool, pre-school, and toddler pairs.
