Many attribute the success of the Chicago Bulls in the 90s to Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen, yet the coaching staff played a crucial role in developing the team around these two. The head coach, Phil Jackson was able to bring his spiritual beliefs into his coaching practices, being referred to as the Zen Master. Jordan Brand is honoring the legendary coach through this Zen Master lens, not only on an upcoming Air Jordan 4 but also on the Air Jordan 1 Mid.
Jordan Brand keeps this AJ 1 Mid Zen Master relatively simple yet eye-catching, utilizing a leather and canvas mix of white, black, and amethyst tie-dye to pay homage to Phil Jackson. On the front half, we see a standard make-up of a white leather toebox surrounded by black overlays on the eyelets and mudguard. Black flat laces run up to the coral-colored Jumpman on the black mesh tongue. Placed on the white midfoot panel is a black Nike Swoosh that works in between the most eye-catching detail, an “Amethyst Wave” canvas tie-dye collar, and heel overlay. The usual Jordan Wings logo is prominently featured on this collar overlay in black while the sock liner and collar themselves borrow the same dark color scheme. Rounding out the entire look is a white midsole and black rubber outsole.
The Air Jordan 1 Mid Zen Master is scheduled to release in April 2022 through Nike and select Jordan Brand retailers online and in-store. Coming in men and gradeschool sizes, the men's pairs will retail for $135.
