In anticipation of the Chinese New Year, Jordan Brand is extending its festive offerings to younger sneaker enthusiasts with an exclusive Air Jordan 1 Retro Low OG. This special edition follows the brand's tradition of celebrating the Lunar New Year with unique designs, joining the lineup of other Jordan Brand releases themed for the Year of the Dragon. These include an adult version of the Jordan 1 Low OG, a women's Jordan 1 Low SE, and the Jordan 38, all showcasing distinct interpretations of the festive theme.
The Air Jordan 1 Retro Low OG CNY for kids is a vibrant display of color and texture, perfectly capturing the spirit of the Lunar New Year celebration. The sneaker is adorned with metallic gold overlays on the mudguard, eyestays, and heel, adding a touch of luxury and festivity. Sail leather is applied to the toe and midfoot, complementing the gold elements and providing a clean and classic look. One of the standout features of this design is the Swoosh, which flaunts a green faux reptile skin, injecting an exotic and playful touch to the overall aesthetic.
The sneaker features red accents on the Nike Air-branded tongue tag and the intricately embroidered Wings logo on the heel, adding to the festive flair. These red details enhance the celebratory feel and pay homage to traditional Chinese color symbolism. The sneaker's interior is just as impressive, with a Chinese New Year-inspired graphic adorning the insole, centered around the Jumpman logo. The design is completed with a sail midsole that blends seamlessly with the upper's color palette and a clear rubber outsole that provides durability and traction.
The Air Jordan 1 Retro Low OG CNY (GS) will release on January 24, 2024, through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Coming exclusively in grade school sizing, the sneaker will retail for $140.
