Airei, the Los Angeles-based fashion label known for its avant-garde aesthetic, is redefining the boundaries of design through its latest partnership with Asics. Following the duo’s last release on the GT-2160, Airei and Asics are set to launch a collaborative Gel-Quantum Kinetic.
Airei’s take on the Asics Gel-Quantum Kinetic is a more wearable art piece than a sneaker, as its design challenges traditional sneaker aesthetics. Black gauze covers most of the sneaker, shrouding the upper and creating a mysterious and intriguing look. This gauze is meticulously attached to the sneaker via white stitching, adding a layer of texture and depth to the design. Press images from Airei reveal that the gauze can be burned away, unveiling the Gel-Quantum Kinetic's standard construction beneath. The design is completed with Asics' Gel-cushioned midsole and a durable rubber outsole, ensuring the sneaker is as functional as it is aesthetically compelling.
Limited to just 30 pairs, the Airei x Asics Gel-Quantum Kinetic will be available exclusively at a pop-up at Dover Street Market Los Angeles on February 29, 2024. Available in men’s sizing, the sneaker is priced at $265.
