Kyrie Irving’s mother, Elizabeth Irving, instilled the values that Kyrie holds today. Her wisdom and protective spirit guided the Mavericks star throughout his life and career on and off the court. To help celebrate her influence on his life, ANTA has crafted a Mother’s Day iteration of Kyrie's signature sneaker with the brand, the ANTA Kai 1. This release follows up on the OG Artist on Court colorway, the Enlightened Warrior rendition, and the Playoff Pack, including a Navy and White colorway.
The ANTA Kai 1 Mother's Day edition is rich in symbolism and thoughtful design, reflecting the values Kyrie’s mother instilled in him. The sneaker features delicate feathers across its design, symbolizing wisdom and protection—traits Elizabeth Irving embodied and passed on to her son. The vibrant colors of the shoe also pay homage to Kyrie's heritage with the Standing Rock Sioux tribe, representing the tribe’s rich history and culture.
Designers Jared Subawon, Shaneika Warden, and Astin Davis have meticulously crafted every detail, from the strap that reads Mother to the heel pull tab that reinforces the theme. The forefoot outsole proudly displays Elizabeth Irving, making each pair a tribute to Kyrie's late mother. For its color scheme, we see a primarily white design with red, yellow, and blue hits placed on various panels. Underfoot, the sole unit incorporates full-length Nitro Edge foam cushioning, infusing the foam with nitrogen to provide a comfortable on-court experience.
The ANTA Kai 1 Mother's Day will release on May 11, 2024, exclusively via Sneaker Room in New Jersey. Coming in men’s sizes, the retail price is set at $125.
