Kyrie Irving has continued pushing forward with his signature lineup with ANTA, dropping the new Kai 1 Speed silhouette in September. Since then, the model, which takes insight from Irving’s dad, Dred, has launched in several colorways, including the Tribe and Young at Heart. Now, the North Star inspires the latest Kai 1 Speed.
Paying tribute to the guiding light that leads every step forward and the unwavering care of a father, the sneaker comes in jet-black hues accented by pops of gold and blue throughout. As with all Kai 1 Speeds, the signature forefoot strap is removed, and tweaks to the upper make the model lighter and “speedier” regarding its design language. Golden embroidered details line the black canvas base layer, with this golden hue continuing onto the branding windows near the heel, the TPU eyelet, and integrated into tongue portions. North Star text, written in the ancient-inspired font used on other Kai models, comes placed along the medial side, while Kyrie’s logo is featured along the tongue in a vibrant blue hue. Final details on the upper include the two-tone black and gold lace set and the ANTA logo in blue along the midfoot. Finishing the design is the black and gold midsole with full-length Nitrogen foam cushioning paired with a black rubber outsole.
The ANTA Kai 1 Speed North Star releases on November 27, 2024, through ANTA and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s and GS sizing, the retail price is $125 and $100, respectively.
