Skateboarding has always been about pushing limits; few do it better than Anthony Van Engelen. A figure synonymous with boundary-pushing in skateboarding and skate footwear, Van Engelen, in collaboration with Vans, is introducing his latest venture into the future of skate shoes: the AVE 2.0.
The Vans AVE 2.0 is engineered for the skater who demands more from their footwear. Van Engelen's insight into the necessity of functional tech in skate shoes has materialized into a model that speaks volumes of Vans Skateboarding's most advanced technology. The shoe's standout feature is its innovative knit upper, which employs a technical textile with zonal construction. This feature ensures stretch where needed, breathability through the midfoot, and durability towards the heel. Coupled with RapidWeld suede on critical areas that demand flick and durability and an external TPU heel cage for lockdown, the AVE 2.0 is robust, comfortable, and ready to meet the demands of rigorous skate sessions.
"I've found knit material to be super comfortable, lightweight, and breathable," shares AVE. This sentiment is the driving force behind the shoe's design, combining the practicality of suede in high-wear areas with the comfort and innovation of knit fabric.
Underfoot, the AVE 2.0 doesn't skimp on innovation either, featuring an UltimateWaffle construction. This design includes UltraCush cushioning for impact support, a TPU midfoot shank for structural integrity, and SickStick rubber outsoles for unmatched grip and board feel.
The Vans AVE 2.0 will debut in two colorways on March 28, 2024, through Vans and select retailers online and in-store. Available in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at $130.
