Aries’ venture into collaborative footwear has seen the UK-based streetwear label team up with Reebok, Crocs, and, most recently, Puma. Aries worked on the Mostro and Suede silhouettes with the German sportswear giant, which came in a primarily black build. Now, Aries is revisiting the Mostro with a redesigned upper.
Switching out the usual mesh or leather uppers, Aries applies suede across the entire upper sans the tongue. Brown hairy suede takes over the mudguard, eyelet, collar, and midfoot panel, with the Puma Formstrip cleverly integrated by manipulating the suede. A cut-and-stitched suede patch is shaped wave-like and then raised to create a 3D texture, held in place via blue contrast stitching.
Above this Formstrip is Aries branding along a patch of dark brown suede, matching the color of the sockliner, tongue, and lace set. More Aries branding is located along the tongue tag and via a co-branded logo on the insole. Underfoot sits the Mostro’s organic and enveloping spiked rubber sole unit, seen here in black, and a midfoot shank in an iridescent metallic finish of red and blue. This same metallic panel is also located on the toe of the black rubber outsole.
Alongside the Brown pair, a Tan colorway featuring identical features emerged.
The Aries x Puma Mostro Suede has no confirmed release date but will likely launch sometime before the end of 2024 through Aries, Puma, and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price has yet to be announced.
