Sneakerheads may not be fully tuned to what Puma has been up to outside of their performance basketball offerings. Still, the German sportswear brand has been looking to innovate and revive its 90s and early 2000s design language. While we just got our first look at the newest work between A$AP Rocky and Puma on the Y2K-era Puma Inhale, images have appeared of a brand-new silhouette from Puma that comes with 3D printed details and borrows some elements from the Puma Mostro.
The new Puma Mostro 3D features a striking perforated upper that immediately sets them apart from what we typically see from the brand. The 3D printing process allows for intricate spiked details across the upper, echoing the aggressive design language of the Puma Mostro. The slip-on silhouette is further distinguished by an asymmetrical foot opening, providing a futuristic aesthetic and enhanced comfort. The interior boasts a textured footbed, while perforations around the collar ensure breathability and a snug fit. Puma’s iconic Formstrip is seamlessly integrated into the design, subtly blending into the midfoot, with additional branding on the medial side of the forefoot. Underfoot, the shoes have a spiked rubber outsole designed for optimal traction, featuring zonal grip areas near the toe and heel. So far, we've seen two colorways: a striking Red Black option and a sleek Black Volt combination, emphasizing the shoe’s futuristic appeal.
After these images appeared online, Puma revealed that the sneaker would be launched in collaboration with A$AP Rocky. An apparel collection will also drop alongside the footwear.
The A$AP Rocky x Puma Mostro 3D will debut in the Red Black colorway on September 26, 2024, through Puma online. Available in men's sizing, the retail price is set at $250.
