In late 2023, Puma made headlines by announcing A$AP Rocky as the Creative Director for its F1 partnership, which opened the door to sneaker collaborations. As part of his ongoing relationship with the brand, A$AP Rocky has already helped revive the Puma Inhale in its original form. Now, the rapper and fashion mogul is back with a fresh take on the model, bringing a worn-in, distressed aesthetic that aligns perfectly with his gritty, streetwear-inspired style.
Featured in Rocky’s AWGE fashion show in Paris earlier this year, his new take on the Puma Inhale features a distressed canvas upper drenched in a tan hue, giving the sneaker a rugged, pre-worn look. The design plays with contrasting textures and tones, with bronze accents outlining the contoured lines near the eyelets and midfoot. The suede formstrip, a staple of Puma’s branding, maintains the distressed theme, adding depth and character to the overall design. The red laces on the tongue, paired with a custom FLACKO logo in red, pay homage to A$AP Rocky’s nickname and offer a subtle pop of color against the neutral base. The insole carries co-branded details with Puma and AWGE, A$AP’s record label, creative agency, and fashion label. At the same time, the sockliner is constructed from a tan woven material for added comfort. The sneaker is rounded out by a foam midsole with distressed accents and a clear rubber outsole that is pre-aged for a vintage vibe.
Alongside this Tan colorway, a red and black version also appeared with similar distressed details. Red covers the toe and portions of the midfoot while a dirty white Formstrip separates the black on the bottom half of the sneaker. The same FLACKO branding is present on the tongue, and similar distressed details are found across the design. Underfoot sits an aged, worn midsole and a black and red outsole.
The A$AP Rocky x Puma Inhale Distressed Pack will release September 26, 2024, through Puma and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men's sizing, the retail price is set at $130.
