Once garnering a cult following in Japan and elsewhere throughout the skating world, the adidas Adimatic has triumphantly returned in 2022 in new makeups and OG colorways alike. Last year, a slew of colorways were showcased from the 2022 holiday season, though the one pair that was in collaboration with atmos Tokyo dropped overseas prior to the seasons change.
Inspired by the Adimatic’s original brown box packaging, the pair comes covered in its usual suede makeup that takes on a tonal brown shade dubbed “Mesa.” This same material and color lands on the tongue with large tonal laces weaving in and out of the midfoot’s black Three Stripes logo and resting just below a black and white adidas branded tongue tag. Included on each pair is a leather hangtag that mimics the paper tag found on original Adimatic releases, though atmos does make their appearance on the reverse through a debossed logo. Above the heel’s black rubber overlay sits adidas branding in a black embroidery that compliments the nearby all-black sockliner. The final hit of OG details on the sneaker itself is the insoles custom box graphic that showcases stacks of original Adimatic boxes alongside a fused atmos and adidas logo. Underfoot, a cream white midsole gets paired with a gum rubber outsole.
The atmos x adidas Adimatic OG Shoebox originally release on September 17th, 2022 exclusively through atmos Tokyo online and in-store during a special workshop. A US release followed this on May 10, 2023. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $120.
