The 1980s is considered one of the best decades in film. Hundreds of classics and cult classics released during these ten years still hold up better than some modern-day movies. One film franchise, Back To The Future (BTTF), is a cultural symbol considered "perfect" by many fans and famous director Quentin Tarantino. BTTF is no stranger in the sneaker world, either. Made famous by Michael J. Fox in Back To The Future Part II due to his Marty McFly character wearing the infamous Nike Mag, those once futuristic Nike kicks are among the most iconic of all time. For Fall 2024, Nike's sister brand, Converse, pays homage to the classic trilogy with a special footwear collection.
The Back To The Future x Converse Collection features three unique Chuck Taylor All-Star Hi colorways. Two pairs sport an all-over BTTF logo theme adorning the upper in either Black or White. These pairs feature washed canvas uppers with the movie's logo printed all over. The Black pair has the logo in traditional colors, while the white pair is monochromatic.
However, the third pair, the most basic of the three, is the collection's highlight. This black-based pair pays homage to Marty McFly, who was wearing Chuck Taylor's in 1955 after time traveling in the DeLorean for the first time. This pair sports a black-based washed and bleached canvas upper to give the sneaker an aged look. The vulcanized rubber midsole and tape come stained, furthering the worn look. In addition, the date and time Marty left his present time, October 5, 1985, at 1:22 am, is found on the medial sides of the midsole.
All three pairs of the Back To The Future x Converse Collection come in special dual-branded packaging with iconic details such as the DeLorean and 1.21 Gigawatts and the date Marty traveled through time printed on the box. In addition, the All-Over Print pairs come with an extra set of light blue laces to match the outline of the classic Back To The Future logo.
The Back To The Future x Converse Collection is set to release on August 30, 2024, exclusive via Converse Japan and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men's sizing, retail is set at $98 (approx).
