Balenciaga and Puma Team Up For a Distressed Puma Speedcat and Apparel

Sportswear brands across the globe have figured out that partnering with high-fashion brands brings extra attention to both labels, leading the likes of Balenciaga, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Dior, and more to work with brands they traditionally would not want to be associated with. While Balenciaga did have a partnership with adidas, a controversial campaign from the brand caused that partnership to pause, and since then, Balenciaga has partnered with Under Armour for sneakers and apparel. For Winter 2025, Balenciaga will head to Germany for a collaborative capsule with Puma.

Showcased at the brand’s Winter 2025 fashion show yesterday, the Balenciaga x Puma collection takes inspiration from Puma’s innovations in soccer and motorsports. For the footwear, they’ve only decided to tackle one model — the Puma Speedcat — and recontextualize it by reimagining the silhouette with a worn-out suede upper. Not only does the worn suede give it a broken-in look, but the on-foot experience will feel broken in and pliable out of the box as the internals of the silhouette are deconstructed. Finishing the design of the Speedcat is the cut-off Formstrip logo on the midfoot and added Balenciaga branding.

For apparel, the duo works on a series of technical sweatsuits with Balenciaga’s lion rest emblem, tracksuits in crisp and faded nylons, bathrobes, and a shearling tracksuit jacket. Each comes with co-branded features for Balenciaga and Puma and monochromatic color palettes to match the Puma Ultrasoft Speedcats in the collection. Finally, the collection has accessories like hats, socks, gloves, and a co-branded shopper bag.

The Balenciaga x Puma Winter 2025 Collection will release later in 2025 through Balenciaga online and in-store. Currently, pricing information for the Balenciaga x Puma Ultrasoft Speedcat has not been revealed, but considering the typical prices for Balenciaga products, expect to see a near $1,000 price tag for the footwear.
