The Japanese streetwear powerhouse BAPE and California-based skateboarding brand Vans recently released their first collaborative effort at the end of 2021. Months later, we’re getting a follow-up to end the month of February. Featuring a Sk8-Hi 38 DX, Old Skool 36 DX and apparel to match.
Both silhouettes in the collection feature classic BAPE designs across the canvas and suede uppers. Starting with the Vans Sk8-Hi 38 DX, a mismatched look takes over. Featuring BAPE ABC camo prints in blue, pink and green, the classic Vans checkerboard pattern gets A Bathing Ape treatment as well with an outline of the ABC camo pattern dressing it. Alternating yellow and blue tongues sit between the lime and purple suede eyelets on the right pair, with green and orange featured on the left pair. Heading back to the heel, a brown and blue suede overlay finish the upper on the right and left pair respectively. Rounding out the look is the classic Van cup sole encapsulated by a white rubber midsole and gum outsole.
The Vans Old Skool 36 DX on the other hand gets a much simpler treatment. It’s canvas upper gets dressed in the classic green BAPE camo with accenting light green suede covering the toe cap, eyelet and heels. The standard white Vans branding appears on the midfoot, matching the white laces running up the tongue. All of this matched to a white rubber midsole and gum outsole. Alongside the sneakers, the collaboration also features two shirts, one black and one white. The back houses the Sk8-Hi while the front hosts co-branded BAPE and Vans logos.
The entire BAPE x Vans capsule is set to release February 26th, 2022 through BAPE and Vans online and in-store at select locations. Pricing has yet to be announced.
