The legendary anime/manga series BLEACH is celebrating its 20th birthday this year. To help commemorate this anniversary, BLEACH has plans to launch a footwear collaboration with Asics on the Gel-NYC and GT-2160, but there is more in store for BLEACH sneakers. Puma has also been tapped to work with the anime, launching two sneakers and accompanying apparel.
Tackling the Puma Palermo and Puma Delphin, two of BLEACH’s characters are represented here: Ichigo Kurosaki and Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez. Starting with the Palemro, which represents Ichigo, we see a black finish with orange pops and white accents. Black leather lands on the toe and midfoot, the latter hosting a graphic drawing of Ichigo, while suede panels along the mudguard, eyestays, Formstrip, and heel come in black. Laces take on an orange finish, clearly a nod to Ichigo’s hair, and rest above the BLEACH and Puma co-branded tongue tag. Finishing the design is the co-branded insole and black midsole.
For Jaegerjaquez, Puma utilizes the Puma Delphin, another terrace-like silhouette from the ‘70s. The upper features blue flame graphics sprouting from the white rubber midsole, covering portions of the artwork printed atop the leather base. A clear smokey black Formstrip comes with black stitching details and runs back towards the black suede heel tab, matching the suede details of the toecap, vam, and eyestays. Final details include the BLEACH and Puma co-branded insole, tongue tag, and white rubber sole unit.
The BLEACH x Puma Collection will release on November 15, 2024, through Puma and select retailers in Japan, including HOMEGAME and Lafayette. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at ¥17,600 for the Palermo and ¥16,500 for the Delphin (approx $113 and $107, respectively).
