Bode has made waves in the fashion industry by fusing menswear with female-centric traditions like quilting and mending. Emily Adams Bode Aujla founded her eponymous brand in 2016 with massive success and has earned countless awards while gaining notoriety with some top tastemakers. Now, taking her brand outside of the apparel world, Emily Bode will collaborate with Nike on a collection of footwear and apparel, according to Brendan Dunne from Complex.
As a part of this collection, Nike and Bode will release a series of woven apparel, including a track jacket, track pants, shorts, and a pinny. Multiple colorways, cotton long-sleeve jerseys, and thermal pants will be available. While the whole collection and its pricing are still a mystery, Bode will revive the Nike Astrograbber silhouette. Initially released in 1976, the model was created for turf football fields with its waffle rubber outsole and simple mesh/suede. Jordan Brand did create an homage to the model in 2020 with the release of the Air Jordan 1 Low Astrograbber, though this collaboration marks the first time in nearly 50 years that we will see the silhouette on shelves again.
For Bode's version of the Astrograbber, we first see a clean Black Coconut Milk color scheme with black leather uppers accented by coconut milk hits on the Swoosh, laces, tongue tag, and sockliner. Bode branding is front and center on the tongue tag, written in a retro font, while a bronze-shaded lace charm is present below. Rounding out the look is a blacked-out sole unit featuring a waffle.
The second colorway, the Bode x Nike Astrograbber SP Natural, features a nude look, sporting a natural-colored, woven mesh upper, accented by black hits via the Swoosh on the sides and branding on the tongue tag. The rest of the sneaker matches the upper, coming in natural and light cream.
The Bode x Nike Collection, including the Bode x Nike Astrograbber in two colorways, will release April 18, 2024, through Bode online. A wider release via Nike SNKRS and select retailers will take place May 1. Available in men's sizing, the retail price for the sneakers is set at $160.
