LA-based fashion label Brain Dead may have just come off its first (widely available) adidas collection when they dropped three Stan Smiths over last month, but they’re now venturing back over to rival Converse. In the past, Brain Dead worked with Converse on the Chuck 70 in multiple colorways and a Bosey Boot collab. Now, they’re back to launch a new split-designed Chuck 70 Hi.
The avant-garde and eclectic design prowess of Brain Dead is evident in the multiple graphic patterns and prints placed along the canvas upper of the Chuck 70 Hi. We see a zebra print on the left shoe take over the lateral side and a camo pattern on the medial. Moving to the right pair, we see a leopard print applied while a patriotic-esque navy upper with star graphics adorns the medial side. Converse branding comes placed on the medial suede in its usual fashion, leaving Brain Dead to add its logo to the lateral side. Inverted tongues with dot patterns are found, black with white dots on the left shoe and white with black dots on the right, though each pair comes with identical stitching details and the same cream rubber toe cap. Finishing the upper are the mismatched heels, one pair having a candy cane-esque red and white while the other comes in a giraffe pattern. Rounding out the look is the white midsole, with the phrases “To see and be seen as far as the eye can see,” “Who controls the control men,” and “The same elsewhere,” paired with a black outsole.
The latest Brain Dead x Converse Chuck 70 Hi will release on November 7, 2024, through Nike SNKRS, Converse, Brain Dead, and select retailers online and in-store. Available in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at $110.
