Not many can say they’ve led a life like Cali DeWitt as the Canadian-born artist spent much of his younger years around some of the most famous indie bands including Nirvana. Alongside appearing on the cover of the bands album In Utero, nannying for Courtney Love and Kurt Cobain’s daughter, and founding his own record label, DeWitt became an artist in his own right by producing artwork and apparel designs in private.
Before truly stepping into the limelight, DeWitt would become famous under his pseudonym “Caramel Bobby” who produced graphic t-shirts with gothic text that laid the blueprint for his eventual work on Ye’s (FKA Kanye West) The Life Of Pablo tour merchandise. Now, after stepping into the footwear collaboration world with Vans, DeWitt is tackling one of adidas’ latest silhouettes - the adidas NMD_S1.
Seen in a “Core Black” and “Crystal White” colorway, the silhouette remains unchanged in terms of its material usage, though both sneakers feature a contrasting dot pattern splattered throughout their design. Aside from this and Cali’s signature appearing on the suede tongue label, the Primeknit-laden sneaker features its typical semi-translucent TPU window on the profile, rope laces, and a stretchy collar portion all in tonal shades for each respective colorway. Underfoot sits a matted-out tonal NMD_S1 midsole with geometrically-shaped TPU plugs and a Trefoil-laden rubber outsole that encapsulates a full-length Boost cushioning within.
The Cali DeWitt x adidas NMD_S1 Pack is set to release on June 22, 2023 through adidas Confirmed and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $250.
