Cecilie Bahnsen first partnered with Asics in 2022 when the Danish designer upcycled multiple models and colorways from the Japanese footwear brand for her Spring/Summer 2023 Collection. However, not long after, the first official collaborative project the public had a chance at came out when Bahnsen worked on multiple colorways of the GT-2160. Following up on the duo’s work on the Gel-Quantum 360 VIII, Cecilie brings her touch to the Gel-Terrain silhouette.
Merging the outdoor-inspired aesthetic of the Gel-Terrain and Cecilie’s iconic floral motif, the three colorways offered, Brown, Red, and Black, come with updated construction. A netted mesh base comes in tonal hues, while glossy TPU film is fused along the mudguard and the Asics tiger stripes, adding durability with its no-sew build. Flower petal overlays are attached across the upper and also take on this shiny, patent-like finish and come in a tonal hue that matches the color palette of each respective pair. Inside, the sneaker features a split branded insole, with the left pair coming with an Asics logo and the right featuring Cecilie Bahnsen text. Underfoot, a FlyteFoam and Gel-cushioned midsole in a tonal finish comes with a grippy rubber outsole designed for outdoor adventures.
The Cecilie Bahnsen x Asics Gel-Terrain Collection will release via an EQL raffle on Cecilie Bahnsen’s website on October 16, 2024, with a wider release via global retailers and Asics coming on November 1. An early launch of the Red colorway will take place on Halloween on Dover Street Market London's website. Each pair is available in unisex sizing and comes priced at $230.
