For 20 years, CLOT and BAPE have collaborated on multiple occasions to meld the Chinese and Japanese aesthetics both brands are renowned for. The duo is teaming up for a new capsule of clothing and sneakers, including a custom CLOT-infused BAPE camo print across multiple pieces to celebrate this occasion.
Starting with footwear, CLOT has chosen the new SHARK STA silhouette, which debuted earlier this year in the Country Pack and paid homage to ten nations. Edison Chen’s label infuses the new CLOT Camo pattern onto the mesh base of the sneaker, seen in the classic green color palette, while solid black hues hit the various overlays and lace set. CLOT also adds branding via the custom lace dubrae and a dragon claw on the sneaker tag.
BAPE branding details remain on the silhouette, as seen with the Japanese brand’s logo on the tongue, A Bathing Ape spelled out on an added tag near the lateral midfoot, and the shark teeth motif that has long been associated with BAPE on the edge of the upper and sole. Underfoot, the sneaker comes with a white foam midsole, a black TPU BAPE star logo, and a clear outsole that hosts a shark and dragon graphic.
Outside of sneakers, the duo works on hoodies and clothing items, including the Chinese Jacket. Edison Chen blends a red and classic green camo across the nylon jacket, integrating design details inspired by silk brocade. Other items include the full-zip hoodie, which uses a new dragon-inspired logo that takes inspiration from the original shark-face logo from BAPE, and various tees and outerwear items.
