The days of players rocking PRO-Keds and Converse Chuck Taylor's on the hardwood floor are long gone, and since that era’s time has passed, Converse has fallen to the wayside in terms of performance basketball popularity. Even with a roster full of athletes like Kelly Oubre Jr. or Draymond Green, the Boston-based brand has yet to find a hit in a similar fashion to Puma and LaMelo Ball’s signature silhouette, the Puma MB.01. Their latest silhouette may bring some hype to the brand as Converse is adding CX Foam to its basketball lineup on the All Star BB Prototype CX.
Launching in three colorways, “Vegas Lights,” “Black Gold,” and “White Red,” the silhouette comes in mid-top form with a mixture of mesh, suede, and leather taking over the upper. Each colorway takes after its namesake with the Vegas Lights rendition getting bright neon accents against a pale nude shade while the other two options utilize the two shades in its title. Tech-wise, the hidden webbing lacing systems help with lockdown support while the integrated pull-tab allows for easy on-and-off wear. Underfoot, a TPU shank helps with stability while the CX foam midsole is one of the more comfortable options for cushioning under the Converse banner.
The Converse All Star BB Prototype CX in its three launch colorways of Vegas Lights, Black Gold, and White Red are set to launch on September 13th, 2022 through Converse and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $120.
