June marks the beginning of Pride Month, celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community and those that lift one another up within the many intersections of this community. While plenty of brands bring out themed products and commercials for Pride Month, Converse is going beyond this within their 2022 Pride Collection. Alongside their various models that come with Pride themes, the brand will debut a digital gallery showcasing more than 50 individuals within Converse that belong to the LGBTQIA+ community and a debut film by Richie Shazam.
For the sneakers within this collection, Converse is allowing individuals to customize their sneakers with Converse By You featuring plenty of flag-inspired details representing LGBTQIA+ individuals. On top of this, the Converse Run Star Motion, Chuck 70 Hi, Chuck Taylor Hi, Lift Ox, One Star, and All Star Slide come dressed in Pride colors and motifs. On the Run Star Motion, a white canvas upper is matched to a rainbow colored wavy midsole and outsole as well as Pride Unity Flag webbing featured on the tongue. For the Chuck 70 Hi, a patchwork quilt-inspired graphic is wrapped in bright and bold rainbow colors, celebrating the strength of the LGBTQIA+ community.
Converse also celebrates the family unity within the community through its One Star silhouette, crafting the sneaker with a suede patchwork upper, rainbow star patch, rainbow deco stitching, and a unity flag seam placed on the heel. Their All-Star Lift Ox gets an illustration of a matching Chuck graphic in rainbow colors, rainbow deco stitching, and a Pride Unity Flag pull tab. Clothing is also available, coming with graphic tees and a bucket hat that houses design details present on the footwear in the 2022 Pride Collection.
The digital campaign titled “Found Family” showcases stories and content from within Converse’s LGBTQIA+ community. More than 50 individuals from across the globe are showcased through photographs, audio clips, art, and letters within this digital art gallery. To view the gallery, visit converse.gallery/found-family. Alongside the art gallery, Converse has linked up with model, photographer, and writer Richie Shazam to tell her story of her Found Family. The film will premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in the coming weeks.
The footwear and clothing portion of the Converse 2022 Pride Collection is available now through Converse.com and will eventually release in-store through multiple retailers. Coming in unisex sizing, the retail prices range from $35 to $120 on the footwear while the clothing will be between $30 and $40.
