With every sneaker brand under the sun trying to catch lightning in a bottle like Ye did with the Yeezy Foam RNNR, Converse introduced the world to their take on the foam clog with help from A-COLD-WALL. Now seeing in-line releases, the Converse Sponge Crater CX has already appeared in a "Natural Ivory" look, though an all-black look is heading to retail very soon.
Utilizing the same two-piece knit and foam construction previous colorways have been spotted with, the entire sneaker gets covered in a monochromatic deep black look, sans the goldtone insole and treeline Converse branding on the pull-tabs and insole. The 95% recycled breathable knit upper gets even more recycled parts with the polyester tongue and pull-tabs coming composed of 100% recycled materials. Sitting below this knit is a PU foam CX sockliner and sculpted Crater Foam exoskeleton with oval-shaped cutouts around the toe and midfoot. Also acting as its midsole and outsole, the bottom gets an eggcrate-style traction pattern, completing the look.
The Converse Sponge Crater CX Black is slated for a July 5th, 2022 release out in Portugal with a global release planned for sometime in 2022 through Converse and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at $110.
