Earlier in the year, it was reported that Sha Gilgeous-Alexander, the Oklahoma City Thunder star revered for his play on the NBA floor and his style off the court, would become a sneaker-free agent. He was already signed to Converse and chose to resign with the label, inking a multi-year extension that sees SGA being appointed Creative Director of Converse Basketball and launching his signature sneaker in 2025. Converse has just unveiled SGA’s signature logo ahead of the new year.
Originally hand-drawn by Shai, the logo features two stylized, mirrored number twos that nod to his uniform number and the identities he holds on and off the court. The use of dual numbers also embodies the concept of equilibrium, which, for Shai, means balancing the demands of playing in the NBA and the creative freedom of art and design off the court.
With the duo showcasing this new logo, we should expect a reveal of his signature sneaker in the coming months. However, Shai has already launched a design with Converse earlier this year — his colorway of the Converse Weapon. There’s likely even more in the works with Shai at the helm of Converse Basketball, with the label teasing in a press release that “Converse and Shai are only just getting started.”
