Merrell has been appearing on the radar of sneakerheads over the last few years, thanks to the rise of gorpcore and timely collaborations. For the brand’s 1TRL division, which contains more of Merrell’s premium offerings that bridge the gap between lifestyle and trail-ready/outdoor offerings, the imprint is teaming up with NYC-based fashion label Corridor for a hybrid silhouette perfectly timed ahead of the winter season.
Combining details from the Merrell Winter Moc and the Moab’s iconic sole unit, Corridor creates the Moab Winter Moc 3, perfectly aligning with Corridor’s vision. Founder Dan Snyder stated, "New York City is all about walking. We wanted to create a walking shoe for all seasons and all reasons. The collab has a hiking sole for longer days on your feet and through the inclement weather that is sure to come. It’s also appropriate for day hikes in Upstate NY. The shoe is made to fit our active lifestyles in a way that integrates with the clothes - in a natural suede and an easy brown sole. We hope that these useful shoes help make your life more comfortable and easy; and that you wear them out.”
Premium suede uppers in a tan hue feature a neoprene stretch collar attached to create an easy slip-on silhouette. These panels all come in a single-tonal shade, matching the neoprene collar. Corridor branding comes along the collar via an added tag, with co-branded logos for Corridor and Merrell found on the insole. Below, the slip-on silhouette comes with a 50% recycled removable EVA foam footbed for cushioning, a molded nylon arch shank for additional support, Merrell Air Cushion in the heel, and EVA foam runs across the midsole. The brown midsole and outsole are finishing the design, the latter made by Vibram with Merrel’s sticky rubber compound.
The Corridor NYC x Merrell 1TRL Moab Winter Moc 3 will release on October 25, 2024, through Corridor NYC online, with a wider global release on November 1, 2024, through Merrell and select retailers online and in-store. As of this writing, the retail price has yet to be announced.
