LeBron James and Team USA are gearing up for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, and the road to the games has taken them to the United Arab Emirates for a series of showcase matches. This visit is historic as it is LeBron’s first game in Abu Dhabi. A fan presented him with a custom pair of Nike LeBron NXXT Gen AMPD sneakers inspired by the iconic First Game colorway to commemorate this special occasion.
Crafted by Showg Mudhafar, a former player for the UAE's National Women's Basketball team from 2010-2018, the custom Nike LeBron NXXT Gen AMPD First Game Abu Dhabi Custom features a blend of unique elements that celebrate LeBron's illustrious career and the admiration he commands in the UAE. The upper is adorned with camel leather overlays, giving the sneaker a luxurious and regionally significant touch. A large lockdown strap has been added, featuring a woven Sadu pattern incorporating LeBron James' name in Arabic, celebrating his global influence and the local culture. This intricate Sadu pattern extends to the tongue, where we see LeBron’s crown logo in black. Despite these custom touches, the sneaker retains the original tooling and color scheme of the First Game colorway, maintaining its classic appeal.
