In celebration of Marvel Studios’ upcoming film Deadpool & Wolverine, set to hit theaters on July 26, adidas is launching an exclusive collection of footwear and apparel. This partnership marks the first Deadpool-inspired adidas collection, combining the brand's signature Originals and performance products with the irreverent charm of the Merc with a Mouth and the rugged appeal of Wolverine.
The Deadpool & Wolverine x adidas Collection brings a playful and edgy twist to some of adidas' classic silhouettes. The collection features two themed Rivalry Low shoes, an Adizero Electric cleat, graphic tees, and a special adidas Originals silhouette worn in the film that has yet to be revealed. The designs are rich with unmistakable color blocking and distinct details that pay homage to the iconic characters.
In a press release for the collection, senior director of North American strategic partnership at adidas, Shane Jochum, stated, “Bringing together these iconic franchises with Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine has been an exciting collaborative journey. Our relationship with Marvel and its fans continues to unlock opportunities for us as a brand to develop products to be used in films and worn by fans as they celebrate the launches of highly anticipated films. We’re excited for fans to get their hands on this collection and see it come to life in the film this summer.
The Deadpool-inspired Rivalry Low and Adizero Electric cleats include storage pouches and tongue-in-cheek jokes on the insoles, reminiscent of Deadpool's notoriously pouch-laden costume. The Rivalry Low has a suede upper with black stitching details lining the various panels. Inside, we see a Marvel and adidas co-branded tag while a portrait of the character is found on the heel. Deadpool’s football cleat also takes on the character's look, with red and black details covering the performance model.
The Wolverine-themed Rivalry Low boasts the classic yellow and blue color scheme, celebrating Wolverine's traditional superhero suit that will debut in the film. Unlike Deadpool’s colorway, this version of the Rivalry comes constructed out of suede and leather, with yellow leather landing on the mudguard, eyestays, and heel. Blue accents pop on the vamp, Three Stripes (which also mimics Wolverine’s claws), tongue tag, and heel tab. Wolverine himself appears on the heel.
As the final part of the footwear (revealed thus far), we see a kids’ exclusive adidas Forum 84 Low themed after Deadpool. Most of the leather sneaker has a black finish with red details on the mudguard and tongue tag. A Deadpool logo lands on the X-strap on the lateral suede, while the medial side sees a Deadpool graffiti logo vandalized, covering the “dead” part of Deadpool and replacing it with “kid.” Rounding out the look is the white midsole.
Alongside the sneakers, adidas has a range of apparel, including multiple Deadpool and Wolverine-themed t-shirts and shirts featuring both heroes.
The Deadpool & Wolverine x adidas Collection will release on August 1, 2024, through adidas online and in-store. As of this writing, the retail price for the collection has not been revealed.
