Over at The Three Stripes, things may not look so good on the Yeezy front, though they still host plenty of collaborative projects with some of the world's biggest brands. One of these happens to be Disney, which owns a sizeable chunk of the entertainment industry's IPs like Star Wars, The Simpsons, and Marvel. The latter of these three has recently appeared on a range of BAPE STA colorways, though they didn’t cover one of Marvel’s most revered villains, Dr. Doom, who is now appearing on the humble adidas Stan Smith.
Coming in a larger set of Disney x adidas Stan Smith, Doom keeps things classic while aiding sustainability, dressing the silhouette in a white synthetic leather upper with green accenting details found atop the tongue and back on the heel, though the entire model comes made up of at least 50% recycled content. The evil villain himself appears on the sneaker by landing atop the tongue tag with his portrait displayed in a metallic finish as well as his name replacing the usual “Stan Smith” text on the medial side of the midfoot. On the insole, two cartoon graphics with adidas and Marvel co-branding showcase Doom on his throne and standing ready to fight. Back on the heel, the phrase “It’s not easy being green” comes split between the left and right sneakers’ heel tabs, tying in with the sustainable efforts of the silhouette itself. Rounding out the design is a cream white midsole and outsole combo.
The Disney x Marvel x adidas Stan Smith Dr. Doom has seen a release in overseas markets with a US drop set for sometime in 2022 through adidas and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $130.
