The woes at adidas only seem to continue as not only has the German sportswear giant cut ties with Yeezy and projected its first operating loss in 31 years but reports state Beyonce and her IVY PARK label have ended the partnership with The Three Stripes. One can only hope a collaborator in their back pocket for over two years, Jerry Lorenzo and his Fear Of God Athletics sub-label, can step up and bring back some positive energy for adidas. Now, just a day after a Fear Of God Athletics x adidas Slide sample surfaced (to negative public perception), another sample between the duo appeared.
Much like his previous work with Yeezy on his 750 silhouette and his Fear Of God 1 with Nike, this high-top sneaker oozes performance basketball vibes with a minimalistic and high fashion approach to its construction. Around the toe, creamy shades get contrasted by what we can only assume will be the branding for Fear Of God Athletics in three black circular rectangles. Above this, a black mesh material takes over the tongue and collar region. Another motif Jerry often uses in his designs is a lockdown strap that appears between the toebox and the tongue. Back on the semi-transparent TPU heel counter, we see the Trefoil logo alongside Fear Of God branding embossed into the material. Rounding out the design is a clear rubber sole unit appearing similar to the Yeezy QNTM, likely encasing a full-length Boost cushioning paired with a rubber outsole.
The first piece of traditional footwear from the Fear Of God Athletics x adidas partnership is rumored to release in 2023 or 2024 through adidas and select retailers online and in-store. As of now, sizing and pricing information is TBA. Shortly after the images shared below surfaced, Complex shared a statement from Jerry Lorenzo in which he says “This is not the basketball sneaker from Fear of God and Adidas." We can expect the full collection to be unveiled on April 19th, 2023.
