Footpatrol, a prominent UK-based sneaker retailer, has joined forces with Puma to bring a unique twist to the Velophasis silhouette. This collaboration signifies a journey back in time, delving into the iconic Y2K fashion era of the early 2000s. The era was known for its distinctive blend of minimalistic and striking styles, reflecting technological excitement and fashion experimentation.
The Footpatrol x Puma Velophasis perfectly embodies the Y2K aesthetic, merging futuristic elements with a contemporary runner design. The shoe features a striking color palette of metallic silver and icy blue, capturing the essence of the early millennium's fashion trends. Key highlights include the extensive use of translucent materials and a unique gel-branded heel logo reminiscent of the inflatable furniture craze that dominated the late '90s and early '00s. This combination of materials and colors lends the shoe a distinctly retro yet modern feel.
Footpatrol has gone above and beyond to immerse fans in the Y2K vibe, creating visuals and marketing materials that harken back to the era of console game demo discs, commonly found in computer game magazines. The campaign features an old-school menu system divided into “Metal,” “Gel,” and “Ice” categories, complete with nostalgic sound effects.
The Footpatrol x Puma Velophasis will release on December 2, 2023, exclusively through Footpatrol. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is approximately $177.
