Gallery Dept. Helps Introduce the new Asics Gel-K1011 Silhouette

The hype around Asics is at an all-time high as the Japanese footwear brand has tapped into the trend of tech mesh runners and chunky shoes. During this golden period for the brand, they produced plenty of colors of their staple models, like the Gel-Kayano 14 and Gel-1130. However, they have slowly begun introducing (and reintroducing) different models to the market. The latest pair to hit shelves is an all-new sneaker dubbed the Asics Gel-K1011.

To help introduce the new model to the market, Asics has tapped Gallery Dept., the high-end fashion label founded by artist Josué Thomas, for a three-pack of colorways, but the duo is no stranger to one another. Back in 2023, Gallery Dept. crafted a paint-covered GT-2160 that became one of the most sought-after Asics collabs and today fetches prices upwards of $1,000 in many sizes on the secondary market.

Two colorways offer simple colorblocking and standard construction, one in White Pure Silver and the other in Khaki Clay Canyon. In contrast, the third pair in the pack comes covered in all-over white paint applied by in-house artisans. Each color scheme features a wide-spaced mesh base with wavy, contoured leather overlays around the upper profile, and Gallery Dept. logos are added to the toe and heel. Asics branding details come added via the midfoot’s tiger stripe, the heel tab’s “A” logo, Asics on the lateral heel, and the Asics logo on the tongue tag.

The Black rendition is coated entirely in white paint, dried, and appears as if it was cast in white paint. Black details from the base layer are somewhat present on select details, and considering that each pair is hand-done by in-house artisans, expect each pair to feature a unique paint print. Below, all three colors come with a foam and Gel-cushioned midsole and a rubber outsole.

The Gallery Dept. x Asics Gel-K1011 Pack will release in December 2024 through Gallery Dept. online via an EQL raffle that will open on December 7. An in-store release at Art Basel in Miami will occur on December 6, followed by a worldwide drop on the 12th. Available in unisex sizing, the retail price is $295 for the White Pure Silver and Khaki Clay Canyon renditions, while the white paint-covered Black colorway will be priced at $325.
