The adidas NMD, while not having the same chokehold on culture it once did, has established itself as a modern classic. Adding another chapter to this lineage, adidas is collaborating with techwear brand Hamcus for a fresh rendition of one of the newest iterations of the silhouette, the NMD_S1.
Known for its futuristic and utilitarian aesthetic, Hamcus has been making waves in the streetwear industry with its functional yet fashion-forward designs. A greyscale color palette is applied by the Chinese label, with black accents seen throughout. A dual-layer Primeknit upper sets the tone, with a rough-edged second layer on the toe box and heel overlay adding a touch of rugged sophistication. The co-branded bungee lacing system in black stands out against the muted backdrop, with nylon Three Stripes placed just below. Hamcus' influence is further evident in the chunky midsole, which sports a painted, pre-worn look, adding to the sneaker's utilitarian aesthetic. More branding details get placed on the lateral side of the sole, including a co-branded adidas and Hamcus logo. To top it all off, a trefoil-laden outsole in a tonal shade completes the look.
The Hamcus x adidas NMD_S1 will release exclusively this month in Asia through adidas Confirmed, Hamcus, and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at 1,599 Yuan (approx $230 USD).
