What began as an NYC graffiti crew eventually morphed into a fashion label that has been rocked by legendary figures like Virgil Abloh and more, IRAK (a riff on the street slang of “racking” which meant shoplifting expensive items) has had the pleasure of working with some of the largest brands on the planet and most notably with German sportswear giant adidas. The labels grimy aesthetic has helped shape collabs with The Three Stripes in the past with the duo most recently working on a two-pack of adidas Sambas in 2022. Now, to jumpstart the new year, IRAK and adidas are coming together once again with this project covering the Supernova Cushion 7.
Keeping its 2000s runner DNA, breathable mesh covers most of the upper with reinforcements coming in the form of suede and leather. Keeping things simple, the majority of the sneaker is dressed in shades of white and black throughout, as seen on the mudguard, collar, midfoot, tongue, and laces, while the sockliner and various co-branded details take on shades of red, yellow, and green. Adding some dimension to the model, IRAK places a green heel clip on the sole unit just below the Three Stripes branding detail. Rounding out the design is the tri-toned white, black, and green adiPRENE+ midsole paired with a gum rubber outsole.
The IRAK x adidas Supernova Cushion 7 is set to release on January 14th, 2023 through adidas, IRAK, and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $140.
