Skechers is making bold moves in basketball, announcing the signing of Portland Trail Blazers forward Jabari Walker to its growing roster of professional athletes. Walker, now in his third NBA season, becomes the fourth NBA player to sign with the brand, joining a lineup that already boasts the likes of Julius Randle, Terance Mann, and reigning NBA MVP Joel Embiid.
The partnership comes after Walker tested Skechers' basketball footwear during the preseason, where he experienced the brand’s hallmark “Comfort That Performs.” His enthusiasm for Skechers’ innovation on the court solidified the deal, and fans can expect to see him featured in upcoming marketing campaigns showcasing Skechers’ high-performance basketball line.
As the son of former NBA player Samaki Walker, Jabari honed his skills early, eventually becoming a standout at the University of Colorado. During his sophomore season, he earned First Team All-Pac-12 honors and led the conference in rebounding. His hustle, defensive prowess, and rebounding ability quickly made him a fan favorite, and the Trail Blazers selected him in the second round of the 2022 NBA Draft. Since then, Walker has continued to build a reputation as a tenacious player and an asset on both ends of the court.
Walker will be wearing the Skechers SKX FLOAT, the brand’s mid-top basketball shoe designed for stability and control, as well as the SKX REIGN, a cutting-edge performance shoe offering superior traction, support, and speed that was released today. Skechers has worked closely with Walker to refine these models, incorporating his insights into their design and ensuring they meet the demands of elite competition.
Skechers Basketball first entered the NBA at the start of the 2023–2024 season with its debut athlete signings and has since gained traction with the signings of basketball stars like Rickea Jackson of the WNBA. With Walker now on board, Skechers continues strengthening its foothold in basketball.
