In the last few months, Jordan Brand has made it a priority to secure the next generation of talent for its brand as we’ve seen up-and-coming stars like Paolo Banchero and Kiki Rice (who signed the first NIL deal in Jordan Brands history) join Team Jordan. Making history once again, JB has just signed the youngest talent ever on their roster, Euphoria star, boxer, and fashion model Javon Walton who is just 16 years old.
Commonly referred to as Wanna by friends, family, and the public, Walton has some history with Jordan Brand as he helped market the latest Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Low release this past summer, opening a door that led up to this very moment. Speaking with FootwearNews, Walton stated that Jordan Brand’s Vice President of Entertainment Marketing “Was really pushing for me,” and that “Jordan Brand saw my abilities in the boxing and acting spaces, and saw that I was really trying to do something special and that I am doing something special. I’m not just out here trying to do what’s normal. I want to make a huge difference in all different aspects and areas in my life. I think that’s why Jordan wanted to sign me.”
In a video shared by Wanna on his Instagram, it appears he was given a huge welcome at Jordan Brands headquarters as well as giving us early looks at possible collaborative apparel. It is also being reported that JB worked with Walton to create a custom boxing boot that may or may not eventually make its way to retail shelves.
The future remains bright for Javon Walton outside of his signing with Jordan Brand, though we can expect something from the two in the near future as what appears to be a custom Wanna x Jordan Brand logo was teased at the end of his aforementioned Instagram post. We’ll have to keep our eyes peeled on whats coming next, so keep it locked to our Twitter and the Sole Retriever mobile app to stay updated on the latest news, raffles, releases, and more in the sneaker and streetwear world - including Wanna’s future at JB.
