Jayden Daniels Sends Commanders to NFC Championship in Custom Nike Kobe 6 Cleats
PublishedThe Washington Commanders are headed to the NFC Championship Game for the first time in 33 years. During last night’s game against the Detroit Lions, the number one seed that many assumed would pull away with the victory, rookie QB Jayden Daniels put up a historic performance. It seems that Daniels channeled his inner Mamba Mentality as he took the field in a custom pair of Nike Vapor Edge Kobe 6 Cleats in burgundy and gold hues of the Washington Commanders.
Daniels employed his long-time customizer, Joe Castro, who goes by @arts_undefined on Instagram, to create these cleats for the NFC Divisional game. This isn’t the first time Daniels laced up some heat as last week, in the Commanders’ first playoff win in 19 years, Jayden rocked a custom pair of Nike Vapor Edge Pro 360 cleats in his team’s colors. In the weeks prior, Jayden rocked more “hype” designs like his custom Travis Scott-inspired Air Jordan 1 Low cleats and Kobe 5-inspired cleats, but decided he wanted to channel Kobe Bryant’s “Mamba Mentality” against the Detroit Lions.
Becoming the second rookie QB to defeat a number one seed in the playoffs, Daniels’ performance last night included 22/31 passing attempts, 299 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 51 rushing yards. His first-half performance also set a new record, as his 242 yards in the first half were the most ever by a rookie QB in an NFL playoff game.
As for the cleat’s design, the pair is a burgundy-and-gold customized version of the Nike Vapor Edge Kobe 6, which was released in the Grinch colorway in November and a mismatched Grinch and Reverse Grinch color in December. On top of these released colors, multiple NCAA programs were given PE colors for their football teams, including the Oregon Ducks, who wore a pair during the Rose Bowl.
Next up for Daniels and the Commanders is the winner of the Eagles and Rams game, which will go down today at 3:00 PM ET. Hopefully, whatever pair he decides to wear next week will help propel him and the team to a shot at the Super Bowl.
