In 2020, Jerry Lorenzo announced he and adidas would come together to create the third pillar of the Fear of God brand: Fear of God Athletics. A long three-year journey occurred with Lorenzo and The Three Stripes working through rounds of samples before finally launching the first Fear of God Athletics collection in December 2023. The initial hype around the sneaker portion of the collection saw an almost instant sell-out. Still, as more colorways and models have hit the market, the public’s energy and enthusiasm around Fear of God Athletics has dwindled. So much so that the public lost interest in the partnership that adidas recently offered exclusive access to up to 60% off Fear of God Athletics products on the adidas app. Even still, there are more models and future collections in the works, with Jerry recently previewing the follow-up to the One model, the Two, during an interview with Complex.
With the adidas Fear of God Athletics One, the silhouette’s design language was informed by performance basketball but with a Jerry-esque twist and an archival spin. However, the actual construction was more in the lifestyle realm, apparent when the PE colorways worn by the University of Miami and Indiana University were retooled. On the Two, it appears Jerry and adidas have leaned more towards the performance side, directly stating to Complex that this is the first performance model from the partnership.
Two variants are previewed here, one with the same adidas Predator-inspired TPU Three Stripes on the midfoot and another with curved Three Stripes that likely take inspiration from archival adidas sneakers. Both come in a mid-cut format, one taking on a neoprene bootie construction and the other a more traditional tongue and sockliner. Below, the midsole comes smooth and molded similarly to the original One model, but the tech inside is likely more modern than the EVA and Lightstrike found on the first sneaker.
As of this writing, the timing for the launch of this new adidas Fear of God Athletics model has not been announced. However, we likely get this new collection to start 2025.
